2 flap gates of 12m width by 6m height for a 24 MW hydro powerplant and some others equipments.
An important Guatemalan company of investment in the real estate and agriculture decided to call upon specialists for the realization in its first hydroelectric project on Rio Samala close to Quetzaltenango. B.P. Etudes was in charge of the design of the hydromechanical equipment of the water intake on the river. The Andritz company provided the turbines and a company of the Areva group the electric part.
Our performance covered dimensioning by calculation with finite elements of the equipment to support the passage of the floods and their adaptation to the project. Thus, we dimensioned 2 flap gates, the stop logs of entry channel, the screen and the screen cleaners, the penstock roller gate and the security device for overspeed. We also carried out the dimensioning of the stop logs downstream of the turbines.
We realized then the whole design until the manufacturing drawings and controlled a part of the manufacture operations on the spot. We took part in the startup of the equipment which took place in August 2007.
